Housing more than 80,000 documents from Gerald R. Ford’s presidency, the Presidential Library is home to valuable historic materials on U.S. domestic issues, foreign relations, and political affairs, in addition to papers and memos from Gerald and Betty Ford. Among the library’s valuable contents are more than 25 million pages of documents, nearly 500,000 photographs, 6,500 hours of video and audio, 787,000 feet of video reel, and countless other irreplaceable artifacts and documents. After great success with replacing the roof of the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Museum in Grand Rapids, the National Archives and Record Administration partnered with Bloom again to replace the commercial roofing system of Ann Arbor’s Gerald Ford Library.
Bloom worked closely with the NARA to adhere to the building’s strict security and safety policies while designing and installing a 27,237 square foot adhered PVC roofing solution that was custom-tailored for the library. Using our decades of experience and industry-leading planning and design processes, the new roofing systems for both the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Museum and the Presidential Library are sure to protect the buildings’ priceless historical documents and artifacts for years to come.
